Who can make a submission

Individuals

Individuals can make a submission to the Federal Housing Advocate.

The form will take about 15 minutes to complete. There are four important parts to the submission form:

  • The submission form will ask you a series of questions about your experiences with inadequate housing or homelessness.
  • The form will ask you about how you would like your housing concerns resolved.
  • We will also ask you for your contact information. When the Advocate believes a housing issue is of particular importance, they may decide to refer it to the National Housing Council, which will form a review panel and hold a hearing to examine the issue. If your issue is selected to be referred to the National Housing Council, we will contact you to tell you about this and provide you with more information at that time.
  • The form will also ask you some demographic and socio-economic information. This information about yourself will help us better understand how inadequate housing and homelessness affect certain people more than others or differently. Providing information on your personal circumstances is optional, however, it is very helpful if you do choose to provide it.

Organizations

Organizations can make a submission to the Federal Housing Advocate.

We welcome submissions from all organizations such as community serving groups, advocacy organizations, public or government sector organizations, non-governmental or non-profit organizations, industry groups, academia and others.
